Drones attack explosives plant in Russia's Dzerzhinsk VIDEO
Unidentified drones struck the Sverdlov explosives plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, overnight, targeting one of Russia’s largest munitions producers.
Residents reported a series of explosions at around 02:30 local time, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
Initial accounts suggest between 25 and more than 30 blasts occurred over the course of an hour.
Witnesses also described bright flashes in the sky and car alarms triggered by the loud sounds.
The drones reportedly targeted the Sverdlov factory, which is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex. A fire is believed to have broken out at the site.
Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin stated that Russian air defences intercepted the attack, which involved around 20 drones in the industrial area of Dzerzhinsk. One person was reported injured.
Governor Nikitin added that falling debris caused several small fires in residential areas, which were promptly extinguished. Glass panels in homes and the roof of a petrol station were also damaged. No damage to industrial facilities has been reported.
