Drones attack Metafrax chemical plant in Russia’s Perm region PHOTO
A drone strike targeted the Metafrax chemical plant in Gubakha, Perm Region, Russia, causing explosions and a fire that firefighters are reportedly working to control, local residents said, as reported by the ASTRA Telegram channel.
Social media reports indicate that between four and six drones hit the plant.
Perm Region Governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed the “arrival of enemy drones” but emphasised that no one was injured and there is no threat to public safety. All relevant authorities were immediately alerted.
Locals described multiple explosions, with emergency vehicles heading toward the Metafrax plant with sirens on.
One resident reported hearing up to twenty blasts, audible even at a nearby school, where students were “between walls”, and some were picked up by parents. Mobile communication in the region was also disrupted.
Metafrax, the largest enterprise within the Metafrax Group chemical holding, produces methanol, formalin, organic derivatives, synthetic resins, and other chemical products.
Some of its outputs—including methanol, hexamine, urotropine, and pentaerythritol—are used in the production of explosives and weapon components.
