EAEU signals readiness to admit another member state
The Eurasian Economic Union (Eurasian Economic Union) is ready to approve Uzbekistan’s application for membership in the bloc in the near future, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin has stated.
He said if Uzbekistan submits an application, it will be approved in accordance with the procedure in the shortest possible time, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Under the rules governing the admission of new members to the EAEU, decisions on membership applications are taken by consensus among all member states.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international organisation for regional economic integration that facilitates the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labour among its member states.
Established in 2015, the organisation has five full members: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
