Eleven freight train cars derail in Russia’s Irkutsk region

Eleven cars of a freight train derailed on the East Siberian Railway in Russia’s Irkutsk Region on August 10, according to the railway’s press office.

The derailment occurred at 5:55 a.m. Moscow time on the Razgon–Oblepikha section of the railway, the East Siberian Railway said, TASS reports.

No injuries were reported, and authorities said the incident poses no environmental threat.

Rail traffic is being diverted to an adjacent track while recovery trains have been sent to the scene to clear the affected section.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
