Erdoğan discusses renewed Ukraine talks with Western leaders
13 July 2026 09:47
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is discussing the resumption of negotiations on Ukraine with Western leaders, a source in the Turkish government told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
According to the source, restarting the negotiation process is a priority issue for Erdoğan.
Russia-Ukraine talks were held in Istanbul last summer. In May this year, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that the Ukrainian side had not indicated its readiness to resume dialogue.
The most recent negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place in Abu Dhabi in February with US mediation.
Türkiye has repeatedly stated that it is prepared to provide a venue for any future rounds of negotiations between the two sides.
