Erdogan reveals date for first nuclear fuel load at Akkuyu NPP
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the loading of nuclear fuel at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP), which is currently under construction, will take place on April 27.
He added that it will transform the facility into an official nuclear power plant, Anadolu reports.
“On the centenary of the founding of the Republic, Türkiye is aiming for new achievements. We will continue steps towards achieving the goals set out in “Türkiye's Centenary” vision,” the president noted.
According to him, a clear example of Türkiye's success and technological breakthrough in recent years is the domestic electric vehicle TOGG.
Erdogan said the number of pre-applications for the TOGG electric car had exceeded 177,000 as of the end of March 28: "This is an indicator of the people's support for the project!”
According to the head of state, many large projects in the defence industry will be announced in Türkiye in April.
“In April, the flagship of the Navy, the landing ship Anadolu, as well as the ‘Hürjet’ aircraft, will be put into operation in Türkiye. And this is just a short list of successful defence projects,” the president said.
"Thanks to the efforts of the Energy Ministry, our country will celebrate two holidays at once [the centenary of the Republic and the start of gas supplies from the Black Sea]," Erdogan added.
