Erdoğan: Türkiye will not tolerate any attack on Syria’s unity or stability
In a speech following a Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex, President Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye's strong condemnation of any attack targeting Syria's unity, stability, and societal peace.
He emphasised Türkiye’s commitment to taking all necessary measures to prevent any developments that could harm the country, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
“I want to be clear: As Türkiye, we strongly condemn any attack, terror, or violent actions aimed at undermining Syria’s unity, stability, and social peace. We are taking the necessary precautions to ensure that nothing detrimental happens to our country,” Erdoğan stated.
The President also expressed Türkiye’s continued diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, saying that they are urging Syrian authorities to take steps towards de-escalation.
“We are making the necessary calls to Syrian authorities to quickly move beyond the current tense atmosphere. We positively welcome President Ahmed al-Sharaa's moderate and calming approach, as well as his firm stance on punishing those who act unlawfully,” Erdoğan added.
Erdoğan praised Sharaa’s policy since December 8, highlighting his efforts to adopt an inclusive strategy without falling into the trap of revenge. He stressed that this approach, if continued, would counter any plans aimed at destabilising Syria.
“The ongoing inclusive policy of President Sharaa, which has been free from vengeful traps since December 8, must continue and strengthen. This will disrupt the games being played on Syria. We sincerely wish for Syria to soon achieve the lasting peace and stability it has long been yearning for,” Erdoğan said.
The Turkish leader concluded by expressing his belief that Syria’s people, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds—be they Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, Druze, or Alawites—will not allow their country to be divided or dragged into instability.
“I believe that the entire Syrian population, acting with foresight, will not allow their country to be torn apart or led into the quagmire of instability,” he remarked.
