Estonia to end free public transport for unregistered Ukrainian refugees
Ukrainian refugees who are not registered residents of Tallinn will lose their right to free public transportation in the Estonian capital starting on May 1, 2025.
The decision comes as the majority of Ukrainian refugees have now registered as residents of Tallinn, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“Registered residents of Tallinn have the right to use public transportation for free, so there is no need to maintain a separate right to free travel specifically for refugees,” the city stated in a release.
The change will officially take effect on May 1, 2025, marking a shift in the city’s approach to providing transport benefits.
The information went viral the cancellation of the Homes for Ukraine programme has had a negative impact on the situation of Ukrainian refugees in the UK.
