EU acknowledges need for resolution in Ukraine amid shifting military realities Hungarian PM says
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the European Union is beginning to acknowledge the emergence of a new international and political reality, which underscores the need to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
Orban highlighted that during the recent EU leaders' summit in Brussels, it became clear that Europe alone cannot resolve the conflict, Caliber.Az reports citing Hungarian media.
He pointed out the rapidly shifting military situation in Ukraine, with the Russian Armed Forces gaining momentum.
Orban noted that EU leaders demonstrated "great openness" to the changing realities in Ukraine during the summit. He emphasized that the heads of state now recognize the importance of establishing a strong security system in Europe.
Earlier, Orban had mentioned in a press conference after the EU summit that Hungary's peace initiative on Ukraine had not been implemented during the country's EU presidency but was pursued on a bilateral basis. He also clarified that Budapest's proposal for a Christmas truce between the conflicting parties was not part of the country's EU presidency agenda.
