EU plans new sanctions against Russia by July 27 Including gas transport restrictions
The European Union (EU) is set to finalize a new package of sanctions against Russia by July 27, aiming to reach consensus before Hungary assumes the EU presidency on July 1.
According to sources, EU leaders are keen to approve these measures, which may include restrictions on gas transportation from Russia, amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions, EU observer reports.
The sanctions are also expected to expand the list of individuals targeted by restrictive measures.
Additionally, the EU intends to impose stringent regulations on European subsidiaries conducting business with Russia, a move aimed at curbing economic ties that may support Russian interests. Notably, Germany has expressed reservations, particularly concerning its companies' investments in Russia.
