EU team in Armenia to evaluate visa liberalisation action plan
The European Union’s first mission evaluating the implementation of the Armenia-EU visa liberalisation action plan has arrived in Armenia. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan met with members of the delegation on Decemeber 8, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Ghazaryan emphasised that ongoing multilateral discussions with relevant Armenian institutions will help provide additional information needed for a clearer and more comprehensive assessment of the documents submitted within the action plan. He noted that several strategic documents required by the process are currently being drafted, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Both sides underscored the importance of ensuring high quality in all stages of the work, stressing that the documents under development must be comprehensive, feasible, and practically applicable to support effective reforms.
Members of the EU mission highlighted the value of their constructive partnership with Armenia and the importance of evaluating progress on the first-stage benchmarks, which focus on legislative and sectoral policy frameworks. The European Commission’s first report on Armenia’s implementation of the action plan is expected ahead of the next European Political Community summit.
Armenia’s Migration and Citizenship Service head Nelli Davtyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to carrying out the visa liberalisation action plan.
