European Commission members to visit Ukraine ahead of war anniversary
The members of the European Commission are set to visit Ukraine by February 24, as part of a significant diplomatic mission, spokesperson Stefan de Keersmaecker said during a briefing in Brussels.
"I can confirm that, ahead of the anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the members of the European Commission will visit the country next week," de Keersmaecker stated, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Keermaker did not specify whether a peaceful settlement and security guarantees would be discussed during this visit.
To recall, earlier, Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Goncharenko who is on Russia's list of terrorists and extremists, announced on February 15 that European Commission (EC) representatives are set to visit Kyiv on February 24.
Czech President Petr Pavel stated on February 16 that a "Marshall Plan" would be suitable for Ukraine's post-conflict reconstruction. He urged for preparations to be made for Ukraine's eventual integration into the European Union and emphasized that the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO should not be ruled out.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the European Union is preparing to unveil a new package of sanctions on the third anniversary of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
