Expert Petrosyan: EU Mission in Armenia acts against Russia, Iran

In a recent conversation with Armenian media, regional issues expert Armen Petrosyan expressed concerns regarding the inclusion of a Canadian observer in the EU observer mission, stating that it may pose challenges in evaluating the mission's objectives and goals within the region.

“With regard to the EU observer mission, the reality is that a Canadian observer may cause some problems overall in assessing the mission's objectives and goals in the region itself," Caliber.Az quotes Petrosyan as saying.

“Therefore, for example, the expansion of this framework by Armenia should be assessed and considered from the point of view of assessing and responding to possible regional conflicts. Now I don’t know, I haven’t followed how Armenia presents the participation of the Canadian observer, but surely some problems will arise here.

We must understand that we are in the most serious period of geopolitical confrontation, and this is seen by some players in our region as potential tension, at least for now, in the context of political and economic competition. In this case, naturally, the main task of Armenia in the process of this competition is to keep this competition as manageable as possible and eliminate possible problems for Armenia.

Because there will still be problems. Again, they will be, because if, taking into account our interests, taking into account the challenges that our country faces, we are a participant in these processes, and our policy is to create new opportunities to prevent and solve these problems.

Our potential partners who are located outside the region act here not in our interests, but primarily in their own interests. And their interests here pursue clear goals. This is a weakening of the positions of their opponents in our region, as well as their sworn rivals in geopolitical competition in general.
