Explosion rocks Continental tyre plant in Hanover, injuring two
An explosion occurred at the Continental tyre manufacturing plant in Hanover, Germany.
The incident took place in the Fahrenwald neighborhood around 10 a.m. local time, Caliber.Az reports, referencing Bild newspaper.
Preliminary information suggests that the explosion originated from a boiler unit located on the upper floors of one of the plant’s buildings. The blast caused several windows to shatter on the top floor. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and authorities are investigating the cause.
So far, reports indicate that two people sustained minor injuries, while emergency services are assessing five others. There have been no reports of fatalities.
This incident follows a recent explosion at BASF’s chemical plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany’s largest facility of its kind. That explosion led to a fire, which was quickly contained, but left 14 employees injured. The exact cause of the Ludwigshafen explosion has not been disclosed.
Similarly, an industrial explosion was reported at a Toyota plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The Fujioka facility, which produces components for Toyota vehicles, experienced a blast linked to an industrial dust collector. At least three people were injured in that incident, one of whom is in serious condition.
Meanwhile, in Mexico, a fire broke out at a car dealership in the city of Zapopan. Authorities are still investigating the cause.
