Explosions rock Gazprom facility as drones strike deep inside Russia VIDEO

24 June 2026 12:00

A large-scale drone attack targeted Russia’s Orenburg Region on Wednesday, June 24, with the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant operated by “Gazprom Pererabotka” reportedly coming under fire.

A fire broke out at the facility, while operations at the local airport were suspended, according to Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev and Exilenova+.

Solntsev said the region had been subjected to a massive drone attack. According to him, several UAVs were shot down over an industrial facility in Orenburg. Media reports indicate that the target was the local gas processing plant.

The governor added that emergency services were working at the scene and that there had been no reports of casualties so far. At the same time, reports circulating online suggest that the attack triggered at least one fire on the facility’s grounds.

“Units of Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry are dealing with the aftermath of debris falling from a UAV that was shot down over one of the region’s industrial facilities. No casualties have been reported as a result of the incident. The situation at the site remains stable. According to Rospotrebnadzor, no harmful emissions have been detected,” the Orenburg regional government said.

Local residents, meanwhile, said they heard explosions and confirmed that a fire broke out following the drone strikes. Preliminary information indicates that at least three separate fire hotspots were recorded within the industrial zone.

The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant is one of the largest enterprises in Russia’s gas industry. The facility is part of Gazprom and plays a key role in natural gas processing and the production of gas-chemical products.

Its design capacity stands at approximately 37 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and more than 1 million tonnes of gas condensate. The plant produces dry gas, liquefied petroleum gases, sulfur, and other products.

The attack may also have affected the helium plant operated by “Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg” LLC, one of the company’s key production facilities specialising in the extraction and processing of valuable components from natural gas, particularly helium.

According to UNIAN, the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant in occupied Crimea, which supplies electricity to Sevastopol, is also on fire, while fires have been reported near the Hvardiiske airfield. In Bakhchysarai, warehouses belonging to Russia’s 133rd Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet are reportedly burning. The facilities allegedly stored fuel and ammunition and were used for equipment repairs.
