Explosions rock Russia's Orsk as air defences repel drone attack VIDEO
Residents of Orsk woke to explosions and gunfire in the early hours of April 29 as air defence systems responded to an apparent drone attack.
According to eyewitness accounts cited by the Telegram channel Shot, smoke was seen rising from one of the city’s districts, while blasts and shooting were heard in the northwestern part of Orsk. An air raid siren had sounded shortly before the incident.
Russian air defences were reportedly engaged in intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles allegedly launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of the latest reports, there was no confirmed information regarding damage or casualties.
Authorities also declared a drone alert across several neighbouring regions, including the Sverdlovsk region, Perm region, and Chelyabinsk region.
Meanwhile, Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, announced temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures at airports in Orsk, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, and Perm.
