Fatal bus crash near Türkiye's Akkuyu NPP leaves 2 dead, dozens injured
In southern Türkiye's Mersin province, a tragic traffic accident involving two buses and a passenger car has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a Russian woman, and left 35 others injured.
The incident occurred in Silifke County, near the Akkuyu nuclear power plant construction site, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
The accident unfolded when a bus transporting workers to the construction site veered into oncoming traffic, colliding first with a passenger car carrying police sergeant Barish Gulcicek, and then with another bus before overturning. The 38-year-old Russian woman, identified as Ismailova, was among those who lost their lives in the crash.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
