Fatal house fire in Russia’s Kaliningrad region kills mother, son Photo/Video

A fire broke out on the night of February 5 in the village of Shosseynoye in Russia’s Kaliningrad region, followed by the depressurisation of a gas cylinder.

Authorities said that a 48-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son died in the blaze. A 15-year-old girl managed to escape and was hospitalised, while the 45-year-old father was also receiving medical treatment, Caliber.Az reports. 

Investigators are examining the house and questioning witnesses. Forensic and fire-technical examinations have been ordered to determine the cause of the incident.

A criminal investigation has been opened on charges of causing the deaths of two people by negligence.
