Fire at Russia's Bryansk warehouse injures four, emergency response underway VIDEO

A fire at a warehouse storing automotive oils and paints in the Russian city of Bryansk injured four workers and prompted a large-scale emergency response on Friday, August 7, authorities said.

The blaze broke out at a single-storey storage facility on Olega Koshevogo Street, Russia’s Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) told TASS.

“A report was received about a fire at the address: Bryansk, Olega Koshevogo Street, 34v. A one-storey warehouse used for storing paints and automotive oils is on fire,” the ministry said.

Fifty emergency personnel and 17 pieces of equipment were deployed to tackle the blaze, with additional resources being mobilised, regional officials said.

Acting Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said firefighters were working to extinguish open flames. “At present, the cause of the fire has not been established. Efforts to eliminate open burning are underway. All emergency services are working at the scene,” he said.

EMERCOM later said the fire had been localised across an area of about 3,000 square metres, adding that firefighting efforts were being hampered by the high fire load inside the warehouse and the distance to water sources.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
