A powerful explosion has been reported at the Samara Kommunar plant in Samara, Russia, a defence-industrial facility directly involved in the production of explosives and the filling of munitions, according to authorities cited by ASTRA.
A fire broke out in one of the facility’s buildings, officials said, but it was later extinguished with no casualties or injuries reported, and the plant continues to operate normally.
Local residents reported an explosion that caused houses in nearby settlements to shake. The regional governor stressed that the incident was not related to unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Kommunar plant is a state-owned defence industry enterprise specialising in the production of ammunition and related components, primarily smokeless gunpowder and propellant charges, as well as hunting cartridges and pyrotechnic products.
