Fire breaks out at Russian Defence Ministry object following Ukrainian strike
Residents of the settlement of Kotluban in the Gorodishchensky district of Russia’s Volgograd region are being evacuated after a fire broke out at a Russian Defence Ministry facility located near the village.
The development was reported via the official Telegram channel of the regional administration.
The channel cited Governor Andrey Bocharov as saying that fragments of a Ukrainian missile fell onto the Defence Ministry facility, causing the fire. Temporary accommodation centres have been arranged for residents of Kotluban, and specialised emergency services are operating at the scene of the incident.
“In order to ensure the safety of the civilian population from the threat of detonation during firefighting efforts, an evacuation has been announced and is currently underway,” Bocharov said.
