A fire broke out in Rostov-on-Don following an attack, affecting the area around the Empils paint and coatings plant and a branch of the Scientific and Technical Centre “Radar,” according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.
During the night of May 8, local residents reported a series of explosions followed by a fire. Footage recorded by eyewitnesses indicates that the blaze erupted in the city’s Western industrial hub, an area that hosts numerous enterprises of various sectors.
Among the facilities located in the affected zone are the Empils plant, which had previously come under attack in January 2026, and a branch of the Scientific and Technical Centre “Radar.”
Empils is one of the key chemical and paint manufacturing plants in southern Russia. The joint-stock company Scientific and Technical Centre “Radar” specialises in the development and maintenance of special-purpose systems and cooperates with major Russian companies as well as the Russian Ministry of Defence.
