Fire shuts down ski lifts at Sheregesh Resort in Russia
The “Freestyle” chairlift in Sector A at the Sheregesh ski resort in Russia's Kemerovo Region has been closed due to a fire that erupted in the lift’s machine building, the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told a Russian outlet.
The fire was reported at 06:15 local time and extinguished by 06:58, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to the Ministry, the roof of the building was destroyed, and electrical equipment inside was damaged. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The resort’s press service also provided an update on lift operations. In addition to the “Freestyle” chairlift, the “Gesh Fly” gondola in Sector A and the “Panorama” and “Sky Way” chairlifts in Sector F have been temporarily suspended.
