First batch of modernised Msta-S howitzers delivered to Russian troops
Rostec State Corporation has delivered the first batch of modernised 2S19M2 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers to Russian troops.
They were delivered as part of the implementation of the state defence order 2023, Gazeta.Ru reports, citing the website of the state corporation.
According to Rostec, the improved "Msta-S" can operate in the "fire attack" mode, has unique tactical and technical characteristics, including mobility, a high rate of fire, and the ability to fire different types of shells.
This howitzer is equipped with a modernized automated guidance and fire control system with improved accuracy characteristics and the ability to display an electronic map of the terrain. The gun's guidance and its recovery after firing are automatic. The modernized version also has reduced visibility in the radar, thermal and optical ranges.
In addition, the 2S19M2 Msta-S received an autonomous power unit with an air-conditioning attachment, and the driver-mechanic has an automated workstation that provides information on the status of all systems of the vehicle.
