Fireworks factory death toll rises to 10 in Russia's Yaroslavl region UPDATED

The death toll from a fire at a fireworks warehouse in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region has risen to 10, the Russian Emergencies Ministry has told TASS.

Officials said fire and rescue units continue clearing the rubble at the site in the Yaroslavl Region, Caliber.Az reports.

“At present, 11 people have been affected by the incident, 10 of whom have died,” the ministry added.

Five people have been killed in a fire at a pyrotechnics factory in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region, while another woman sustained a leg injury, the regional branch of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has said.

Officials stated that rescuers discovered the bodies of the victims while clearing the collapsed structures, and the injured woman was handed over to ambulance paramedics, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

The fire has been contained. Two buildings are still burning, with more than 100 emergency personnel and 40 pieces of specialised equipment involved in the firefighting operation.

According to preliminary information, an explosion occurred at the fireworks production facility.
