Former president's party urges continued protests in Georgia Following election disputes
The United National Movement party of Mikheil Saakashvili, former president of Georgia, is calling for ongoing protests in response to the parliamentary elections held on October 26, which they refuse to recognize.
The leader of the party, Tina Bokuchava, announced the call for protests, highlighting that the opposition possesses a report detailing election violations that they plan to present soon, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Bokuchava emphasized the importance of activism through what she termed "the most ancient form of democratic protest—the protest movement."
She stated, “Therefore, struggle and labor (...) is what we will be able to return the victory with.”
Additionally, she reiterated the opposition's primary demand: the initiation of an international investigation into the reported election violations.
The Georgian Prosecutor General's Office has filed charges against two individuals accused of orchestrating ballot box stuffing during the country’s parliamentary elections, which took place on October 26.
The ruling Georgian Dream party emerged victorious in these elections.
