Former Russian Railways employee extradited from Argentina
A former employee of Russian Railways accused of fraud has been located in Argentina and extradited to Russia, according to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Spokesperson Irina Volk said hat the suspect, a Russian citizen accused of fraud involving abuse of official position, was returned to Russia accompanied by officers from the Interior Ministry’s Interpol National Central Bureau and the Federal Penitentiary Service, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Volk said the extradition followed coordination between Russian and Argentine authorities.
Investigators allege that in 2021, while working for Russian Railways, the suspect repeatedly submitted travel documents, forged contracts, and falsified accommodation receipts from various regions of Russia in order to receive reimbursement for business travel expenses.
A criminal case was opened on charges of fraud involving abuse of official position. The man was placed on an international wanted list in February 2025, according to authorities.
