Former Ukrainian FM says country faces “tactical defeat”

Ukrainian former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said the country is heading toward a tactical defeat but a strategic victory.

Kuleba said the setback would be difficult and “unpleasant in the moment,” but emphasised that acknowledging the hard truth facing the country is necessary to build its long-term future. He warned that refusing to face reality would only slow Ukraine’s progress, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media. 

The former diplomat added that a challenging period lies ahead, during which the country will have to confront difficult facts about the ongoing conflict. However, he argued that this reckoning could ultimately strengthen Ukraine’s strategic position.
