Four missing after aeroboat overturns on Lake Baikal

An aeroboat, Sever-750, carrying 14 people, has overturned near Turtle Rock on Lake Baikal, with 10 passengers rescued and search operations continuing for four others, Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said on May 19.

According to the ministry, among those rescued was a 14-year-old, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Aeroboat ‘Sever-750’, carrying 14 people, overturned near Turtle Rock. Ten people have been rescued,” the ministry said in a statement. “Search efforts for four individuals are ongoing.”

Emergency services deployed 30 personnel and 11 units of equipment to the scene. A diving team has also been dispatched to assist in the search operation.

Rescue efforts are continuing in the area.
