French Azerbaijani's Coordination Council protests against PACE
The Azerbaijani community in France has condemned the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) not to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation.
The State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Caliber.Az that a joint statement was addressed to PACE on behalf of the French Azerbaijani's Coordination Council.
The statement called unacceptable the adoption of such a resolution ahead of the 23rd anniversary of Azerbaijan's accession to the Council of Europe (COE).
"The Azerbaijani state is committed to the decisions and resolutions of the European Court of Human Rights. This is an important indicator of cooperation for the benefit of civil society in the country. We regard the PACE resolution as an attempt to destroy the results of bilateral cooperation," the document says.
The statement also notes that by taking such a decision in the current circumstances, when tragic geopolitical events happening on the door of Europe, such decision from the the COE is nothing but destruction of its own values.
"The French Azerbaijani community in France calls on PACE not to turn the force and principles of international law into a means of pressure on countries like Azerbaijan," the statement notes.
