Azerbaijan, D-8 discuss prospects for expanding cooperation
Azerbaijani president’s aide Hikmet Hajiyev and Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Ambassador Mustafa Ozcan, have discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the D-8, which unites eight developing Muslim-majority nations.
According to a post shared on the D-8 Organization’s official page on the social platform X, the talks were held during a meeting on the sidelines of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum in Shusha, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In a separate meeting, Ambassador Ozcan also met with Ahmed Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan, to explore potential cooperation in the fields of media and communications.
The D-8 Organization was established on October 22, 1996, at Türkiye’s initiative during a conference on development cooperation in Istanbul. Its founding members include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye. The organization was officially launched at a summit of heads of state and government on June 15, 1997. The D-8 Secretariat is based in Istanbul.
For the record, the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, held under the theme “Digital Pathways: Strengthening Information and Media Resilience in the Age of AI”, opened on July 19 and will continue until July 21.
