Azerbaijani Speaker meets Turkmen People's Council head at Parliament bilateral ties on agenda / PHOTO

Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, has welcomed Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, at the Parliament.

During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova noted that one of the important and positive factors influencing the bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is the mutual work of their parliaments, Caliber.Az reports, citing the government body's press release.

She emphasised that reciprocal visits and meetings between the heads of parliaments and lawmakers give strong momentum to this cooperation. Interparliamentary friendship groups serve as a bridge between the parliaments through joint activities and collaboration, she stated.

For his part, Chairman Berdimuhamedow expressed his views on regional matters, gender issues, youth policy, economic relations, the work of the intergovernmental commission, parliamentary diplomacy, interparliamentary dialogue, and other topics.

Notably, the Turkmen government delegation headed by Berdimuhamedow is on an official visit to Azerbaijan on July 16.
