New German envoy begins Baku posting with credentials ceremony, strategic talks PHOTO

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received Germany's newly appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan, Dirk Lölke, as the two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Lölke presented copies of his credentials to Bayramov during the meeting. The foreign minister congratulated the envoy on the start of his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan and wished him success in his assignment.

The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Germany relations, including political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, as well as collaboration in the energy, industrial, transport, humanitarian and cultural sectors.

The two sides noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's recent visit to Germany had laid the groundwork for a new phase in bilateral partnership. They also highlighted the importance of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership, the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Germany Business Council, continued high-level contacts and the further expansion of cooperation.

Bayramov and Lölke also discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation based on mutual respect and trust and exchanged views on regional and international security issues.

During the meeting, Bayramov briefed the ambassador on the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, the process of normalising relations between Baku and Yerevan, and the steps being taken to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region, the ministry said.
