FSB prevents terrorist attack at major industrial facility in Russia’s Urals VIDEO

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented a terrorist attack targeting one of the major industrial facilities in the Urals, the agency’s Public Relations Centre announced.

According to the FSB, the suspected attacker, a 60-year-old resident of Tyumen, was killed after offering armed resistance during an attempted arrest.

“During the arrest, he opened fire with automatic weapons at officers of the FSB special units and was neutralised by return fire,” the agency said. No law enforcement personnel or civilians were injured.

Russia’s Investigative Committee said that on the night of July 19, 2026, the suspect placed an improvised explosive device (IED) in a cache he had prepared on the first floor of an abandoned building in Tyumen. The device was discovered by FSB officers. A Kalashnikov assault rifle, ammunition, and components of the explosive device were found at the scene.

The Investigative Committee’s regional branch in Tyumen has opened a criminal case. Searches were carried out at the suspect’s residence, where firearms, components for assembling another homemade explosive device, and mobile phones were seized.

A series of forensic examinations, including explosive, ballistic, molecular genetic, and forensic medical analyses, have been ordered.
