Gas drillship sets sail from Singapore for Türkiye PHOTO

30 July 2024 16:15

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has said that the first Turkish floating platform for gas production has left Singapore for Türkiye.

"The first Turkish vessel - the platform has left Singapore for Türkiye and will arrive at its destination in two months. With this facility, we will produce enough natural gas to meet the daily demand of 5 million households," the minister wrote on his X page, Caliber.Az reports.

The platform's maximum gas processing capacity is 10.5 million cubic metres per day.

The 298.45-metre-long and 56-metre-wide floating production platform will process gas in the second phase of the Sakarya gas field development and deliver it to shore.

The platform vessel was purchased by the Turkish State Oil Company (TPAO) in Brazil and sent to Singapore for customisation to meet Türkiye's natural gas production needs.
