Gas explosion destroys dozens of flats in Russia’s Saratov, injuring 18

A gas explosion has destroyed nearly 40 flats in a ten-storey residential building in the Russian city of Saratov, emergency services have confirmed.

According to a statement given to the Russian news agency, 38 flats were either partially or completely destroyed in the blast, which occurred on July 2, Caliber.Az reports.

The building comprises five entrances and contains a total of 194 flats, housing nearly 600 residents.

Health authorities say the number of people seeking medical assistance has risen to 18.

All are reported to be receiving outpatient care.
