Gasoline, diesel prices rise sharply in Russia
The price of gasoline Ai-92 at the St. Petersburg International Mercantile exceeded Br66 thousand per ton at the end of trading on September 7, topping the record high.
In this vein, "92nd" gasoline rose in price by 1.14 per cent, up to Br66,220 per ton on September 7. AI-95 gasoline also sets new highs, the cost of this brand for the day rose by 0.5 per cent, up to Br76,876 per ton. The price of summer diesel fuel updated the record, rising by 0.83 per cent, up to Br69,122 per ton, the data says.
In August and September, gasoline and diesel set another historical high almost every day. According to experts, this is due to the reduction of payments to oil companies on the "fuel damper".
From September 1 of this year until December 31, 2026, dampener payments for both gasoline and diesel are reduced by 50 per cent. As a result, companies are betting on fuel exports. According to the Russian authorities' version, prices are rising due to increasing fuel exports, including "grey" fuel, when gasoline and diesel bought by traders for delivery to the domestic market are shipped abroad.
