Trump still has time to shift policy on Iran, says FM

03 November 2025 11:22

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the justification for “the unlawful Israeli and American bombings of Iran” has been disproved and that Trump still has time to change course.

The senior Iranian diplomat shared the statement on X, noting that the claim had been completely refuted over the past 48 hours, Caliber.Az reports.

“– The International Atomic Energy Agency Chief, who has explicitly stated that Iran "is not and was not" developing nuclear weapons.

– My Omani counterpart, H.E. AlBusaidi, an intermediary trusted by both Iran and the U.S., who has made clear that there was never any Iranian "nuclear threat".

Iran did not kill diplomacy. Those who blew up the negotiating table did,” he emphasised.

Araghchi added that Israel has targeted diplomacy itself because it fears the failure of its “Iran Demonization Project.”

“POTUS entered office promising to put an end to Netanyahu's bamboozling of Obama and Biden. It's not too late to reverse course,” the statement read.

In recent weeks, diplomatic engagement between the United States and Iran has entered a tense and uncertain phase, marked by intermittent dialogue and mutual accusations.

In mid-April 2025, indirect US–Iran nuclear talks were held in Muscat, Oman, under Omani mediation, followed by another round in Rome several days later.

However, by early May, the scheduled fourth round was postponed after Tehran accused Washington of undermining negotiations by expanding sanctions during the process.

In July, Iran’s parliament announced it would not resume talks until “pre-conditions are met,” citing distrust of US intentions and ongoing military cooperation between Washington and Israel.

More recently, on 13 October 2025, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington remains ready for a “deal with Iran” once Tehran demonstrates readiness for engagement, while Iranian officials insist any new accord must be based on “equal terms.”
