Uzbekistan repatriates 30 unaccompanied children from Russia
Thirty children left without parental supervision have returned to Uzbekistan from Russia, the Uzbek news agency Dunyo reports.
According to the report, the Uzbek embassy in Moscow facilitated the return of minors who were unaccompanied, homeless, or in difficult circumstances in Russia. The process was organised with the support of Russian authorities. In October alone, 35 children from 11 Russian regions were repatriated.
A special interagency group tasked with identifying and returning Uzbek children left without parents in Russia has been operating since 2022. Uzbek authorities say that over 100 children have been repatriated since the group’s inception.
From July 30 to August 30, Tashkent also conducted a humanitarian campaign to bring back citizens facing difficult life or financial situations, including those held in foreign deportation centres, with 993 people returning to Uzbekistan during the month, including from Russia.
