Russia prepares mass strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure

The Russian Armed Forces have begun preparations for massive strikes on Ukraine’s energy facilities in response to Ukrainian attacks on civilian infrastructure and Russia’s fuel and energy sector, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service announced.

The preparations were launched “in accordance with the instructions received,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry’s Telegram channel.

According to the ministry, Russian forces continued carrying out group strikes overnight on Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises involved in supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, attack drones struck an asbestos-cement products plant whose warehouses were reportedly used to store explosives.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly stressed that its strikes target exclusively military and energy facilities in Ukraine, as well as infrastructure used in support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
