Russia halts flights in several regions due to risk of drone attacks
The airports of Russia's Ufa, Kazan, and Nizhnekamsk cities have suspended the arrival and departure of flights, the country's Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsiya) stated.
Similar measures are already in effect in Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, and Tambov, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
These restrictions are linked to the risk of drone attacks on Russian regions. On the night of November 4, the governor of the Voronezh Region reported the destruction of at least seven drones.
The head of the Volgograd Region said that a drone attack caused a fire at an electrical substation in the region.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry states that air defence systems detected and destroyed 85 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across several regions of Russia on the night of November 2 to 3.
The ministry said that the largest number of drones — 40 — were shot down over the Voronezh Region. Another 20 were destroyed over the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 10 over the Belgorod Region, and six over the Kursk Region.
Additionally, air defence units intercepted and destroyed four drones over the Lipetsk Region, two over the Volgograd Region, and two over the Republic of Bashkortostan. One drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was eliminated over the Saratov Region.
