Georgia accuses US Ambassador Degnan of double standards
Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream Party Irakli Kobakhidze accused US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan of double standards.
He made this statement on air of Imedi TV channel.
Degnan previously said that more information and a legal process are needed after the BBC investigation that former Georgian Defence Minister David Kezerashvili is behind an international fraud scheme to embezzle pensioners' money in the EU.
"Kezerashvili, it turns out, denies the allegations, and therefore it is necessary to bring the investigation to a conclusion. That is, in one case you can watch the biased Georgian media, draw conclusions and impose sanctions against the judges. That's enough. In another case it is not enough," Kobakhidze said.
He noted that according to Georgian legislation it is impossible to bring an administrative case against a judge without incontrovertible evidence and even give him a warning.
