Georgia deports 66 Russian citizens in first quarter of 2026

13 June 2026 11:04

Georgian authorities deported 66 Russian citizens in the first quarter of 2026, a figure only seven fewer than the total recorded throughout 2025, according to data from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Overall, 904 foreign nationals were deported from Georgia during the first three months of 2026 for violations of migration regulations, TASS reports.

Turkish citizens made up the largest group, with 230 deportations, followed by Indian nationals at 108.

The ministry data indicates a sharp rise in deportations in recent years following legislative changes that simplified procedures for removing individuals found to be in violation of migration rules. In 2025, a total of 1,311 foreign nationals were deported, including 73 Russian citizens.

Previously released figures from the Georgian Interior Ministry show that between 2019 and 2024, a total of 953 foreign nationals were deported, including 48 Russians, significantly lower than recent annual totals.
