Georgia reaffirms strategic alliance with Azerbaijan on Independence Day
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, praising the strong strategic ties between the two neighbours.
In a letter addressed to President Aliyev, Kobakhidze described May 28 as “a day of symbolic and historical significance,” saying it reflects “the Azerbaijani people’s aspiration for independence, state-building, and national unity,” Caliber.Az reports via state media.
“On behalf of the Government of Georgia and the Georgian people, I sincerely congratulate you on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” Kobakhidze wrote.
“Georgia attaches great importance to its strong friendship and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan,” he said, adding that cooperation between the two countries “is developing successfully across many areas and is based on mutual respect, good-neighborliness, and shared interests.”
Kobakhidze also expressed confidence that the close relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan would continue to deepen in the years ahead.
“I am confident that the traditionally close relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen in the future and will make a significant contribution to ensuring stability, security, and prosperity in the region,” he stated.
Concluding his message, the Georgian premier conveyed his respect and best wishes to President Aliyev, wishing “peace, progress, and prosperity to the Republic of Azerbaijan and its people,” while expressing hope for the further strengthening of bilateral ties.
