Georgia rejects Russian claims of US interference in elections
In a strong rebuttal to recent claims by Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, dismissed allegations of US interference in Georgia's upcoming parliamentary elections.
Kaladze asserted that the supposed revelations from Russian intelligence were unnecessary, emphasizing that the opposition's overt advocacy for revolutionary change was already evident to the public, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
He criticized the misuse of funds, which were purportedly allocated for the treatment of seriously ill children, suggesting that these resources were instead used to train and incite revolutionary activities.
Guram Macharashvili, a member of the People’s Power party also responded to the statements by Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, drawing a parallel between the obvious nature of daily phenomena and the alleged foreign influence.
“We say that the sun rises from the East. And if the same is said in Russia, should we disagree?” Macharashvili remarked, underscoring the apparent transparency of the situation.
