Georgia’s ruling party eyes “absolute victory” in 2025 local elections
The ruling Georgian Dream party is preparing for a sweeping victory in the upcoming 2025 local elections, buoyed by what it claims is strong public support and high approval ratings for its municipal leaders.
The statement was made by Deputy Speaker of Georgian Parliament Nino Tsilosani, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“We are preparing for an absolute victory,” Tsilosani declared. “The municipal government has high ratings and works successfully with citizens and the local population. Naturally, the team is gaining renewed trust, and we are happy to welcome new members and candidates during this election campaign.”
Her remarks followed the official presentation of mayoral candidates across Georgia’s regions by Prime Minister and Georgian Dream party leader Irakli Kobakhidze on August 11. According to Kobakhidze, the party is nominating a mix of incumbent and acting mayors, as well as introducing new candidates in several municipalities.
“We hope that residents will once again confirm their support for Georgian Dream,” Tsilosani added, expressing optimism about the party's electoral prospects.
