Georgia's top diplomat accuses OSCE of supporting opposition amid Tbilisi protests
The Georgian Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, has sharply criticized the head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for attending an anti-government protest in Tbilisi, calling the visit a blatant violation of diplomatic protocols.
Botchorishvili accused the OSCE leadership of disseminating misleading information regarding the scale and nature of the protest, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
"At the same time, she is spreading false information that a large number of people are gathering there and that someone is obstructing them. The footage clearly shows that several dozen people are assembling completely freely," she stated.
Following the submission of a formal note of protest to the OSCE, Botchorishvili revealed that only 10 out of the organization’s 57 member states endorsed and justified the actions of Finland’s Foreign Ministry and OSCE Chair Elina Valtonen.
"That also says something. Perhaps it’s worth reflecting on," the Georgian FM added, underscoring the limited international backing for the OSCE’s stance.
