Georgia to assume Energy Community presidency in 2025
Georgia will take over the rotating Presidency of the Energy Community in 2025, following a decision made at the 22nd Ministerial Council of the Community in Vienna.
The Ministry of Economy highlighted that, as the chairing country, Georgia will have the opportunity to play a more active role in planning events and shaping the agenda of the Energy Community, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
The Ministerial meeting focused on the development of renewable energy across member countries, the implementation of energy efficiency and decarbonisation goals, and the creation of new regulations aimed at fulfilling commitments to the Energy Community. These efforts also aim to enhance energy security and connectivity within both the European Union and the Energy Community member states.
Georgia has been a member of the Energy Community since 2017, an international organisation that brings together the EU and its neighbouring countries to create an integrated pan-European energy market.
