Georgia to charge fee for Azerbaijani fuel transit to Armenia

09 January 2026 11:41

Georgia will collect a fee for the second transit of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, according to Karen Ayriyan, director of the company Mega Trade.

Ayriyan noted that this shipment includes not only Premium gasoline but also Regular gasoline, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

He added that the transit fee is unlikely to significantly affect fuel prices, as other factors also influence costs.

Previously, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said the country received a favourable transit rate from Georgia for shipments from Azerbaijan.

The first fuel transport was carried out by Georgia free of charge, following an order from Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

On January 7, Azerbaijani media reported that Baku plans to send the next shipment of petroleum products to Armenia. The consignment is expected to include 1,000 tons of A-92 gasoline, 1,000 tons of diesel fuel, and 1,800 tons of A-95 gasoline.

The first Azerbaijani fuel export to Armenia occurred in late 2025. On December 19, a train carrying 1,218 tons of A-95 gasoline arrived at Armenia’s Ayrum railway station after transiting through Georgia, consisting of 22 wagons.
