The “Georgian Airways” airline’s first plane since 2019 flew from Tbilisi to Moscow
The airline received permission to fly on May 16, Gazeta.ru reports.
According to the agency, the plane is 80 per cent loaded. One of the passengers said that there were no difficulties in purchasing a ticket, but they had to buy it through the website since Georgian Airways does not have a mobile application.
On May 19, an aircraft of the Russian Azimuth airline landed at Tbilisi airport, making the first direct flight from Moscow after a four-year break.
Georgian Civil Aviation also granted permission for flights to Tbilisi and Kutaisi to the Russian Red Wings airline.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on flights of Russian airlines to Georgia, which had been in effect since June 2019, and a visa-free regime was also reintroduced for Georgian citizens coming to Russia.
